 Position Title:

Station Manager – Newbury Station

*Classification:  *

*Grade 24 - $41,142*

Hours /FLSA status:

40 hours, Non-exempt, FT

Days, evenings and weekend rotation. Flexible scheduling. Needs to be
available for staff coverage during all the hours the station is open or to
arrange for coverage.

M-TH 11:00 – 8:00 F-S 9:00 – 5:00 Sun 1:00 – 5:00

Library Station – Newbury, OH

Reports to:

Assistant Director

Staff Supervised:

Station head of circulation, clerks and shelvers



*Position Summary:*   Supervises and maintains the day-to-day operation of
the station, including recruitment, hiring, scheduling and training of
staff and volunteers, reference and reader’s advisory service, programming,
selection of library materials, and circulation desk duties.



*Essential Job Functions:*  *This list is illustrative, but not exhaustive
for this position*.

·         Participates in and oversees circulation desk duties: Follows
circulation policies and procedures. Checks library materials in and out,
places holds, renews books, takes in fines and fees, registers borrowers,
takes Golden Buckeye and voter registrations, answers the phone, calls
patrons on reserves, processes daily delivery, shelves books.

·         Has a good working relationship with school administration and
staff.

·         Serves as the Station Manager by overseeing the management of the
Station and all library staff and the security and condition of the
physical building. Works with the Administration to set goals and
priorities for the Station.

·         Assumes responsibility for materials collection including
selection and weeding. Assures the materials budget is spent in a timely
effective manner.

·         Provides programming, outreach, reference and readers advisory
services system wide as needed for patrons of all ages.

·         Plans and conducts programs. Works to encourage an active Friends
of the Library group. Represents the library in the community.

·         Participates in GCPL meetings. Continues professional development
by attending workshops and seminars.

·         Other duties as assigned

 *Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:*

·         Ability to monitor materials budgets, book selection, and
collection development

·         Ability to work with people of all ages including staff,
volunteers, and the general public

·         Competence in computer skills and online resources and the
ability to learn and work with a variety of new technologies

·         Ability to plan and implement programs

·         Ability to supervise and evaluate staff

·         All other qualifications required for library station clerks

·         Willingness and adaptability to work in a changing work
environment.

*Minimum Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:*

·         MLIS Degree or commensurate experience and education.

·         Reliable transportation to work and job related functions.

* Physical Requirements:*

·         Able to use hands and fingers, grasp, handle, feel, or operate
objects, tools, or controls – including computers, phones, and office
equipment.

·         This position requires alternate standing, sitting, and walking.
Must be able to bend, reach, and have the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
regularly and at least 40 pounds occasionally.

·         Able to read computer screens and print materials, and hearing
sufficient to listen to and understand patrons in person and on the phone.

·         Able to push or pull full book carts and book drop carts.

·         Able to shelve in alphabetical and numerical order

·         Able to shovel snowy walkways and salt same occasionally
