[OPLINLIST] 2017 Summer Reading Program Evaluation preview

The State Library asks all Ohio public libraries to report on their summer library programs/summer reading programs at program's end.

Your participation in the 2017 SLP/SRP Evaluation will help the State Library, Regional Library Systems, cooperating state agencies, and the Collaborative Summer Library Program to provide the most useful resources and support in the future.

It also helps us tell the important story of how summer programs and activities at public libraries positively impact children, teens, families, adults, and communities.

The survey will be open from mid-June through the end of September.  A link will be posted to OPLINlist, the Library Youth Services list, and the Small Libraries list, and will appear on the Ohio SRP page of the State Library website (library.ohio.gov/ohio-summer-reading-program<http://library.ohio.gov/ohio-summer-reading-program>).  Please help achieve 100% participation for 2017.

Here is a summary of the questions on the survey.  Review these questions, and track your SRP activities accordingly if possible.  The survey should take you as little as 3-5 minutes if you have your numbers ready at hand (longer if you have extensive feedback to share).

2017 Summer Reading Program Evaluation Preview:

*        Library contact information

*        Did your library offer a summer reading/library program in 2017 for children? Teens? Adults?

*        How many children/teens/adults participated?

*        How many children/teens/adults completed (if you define/track completion)?

*        What was the total attendance at your children's, teen, adult, and all-ages library programs held during SLP/SRP?

*        Did you use the 2017 CSLP theme?  If not, what theme(s) did you use?

*        If you distributed the Ohio State Fair coupon, Ohio State Parks certificate, and/or Ohio Renaissance Festival coupon as an incentive, how many of each did you distribute?

*        Please rate various statewide/CSLP services and products, including the CSLP manual, State Fair and State Parks incentives, etc.

*        Did your library participate in the Summer Food Service Program?

*        Additional feedback, comments, suggestions

We will also again collect anecdotes and photos from libraries, to share statewide to demonstrate the positive impact of public library summer reading programs.  Photos may be used in the annual Ohio SRP video summary (youtu.be/Gmpll1ek_uk<https://youtu.be/Gmpll1ek_uk>).  Photos and stories may be used in presentations, print, and/or online publications that communicate the importance of libraries for summer enrichment and literacy support.  I encourage you to share your photos and stories with the State Library, so we can show off your summer activities and their benefits.
