Union Township Public Library in rural Ripley, Ohio is seeking a dynamic
youth services librarian that will be responsible for providing services and
programs to children and young adults at the main library as well as
assisting/scheduling programs at the two branch libraries. This position
will be available January 2, 2018.

Responsibilities:
Works with patrons to provide available resources for their informational
educational and recreational needs.

Develops a creative, age appropriate year-round programming schedule and
participates in the execution of programs for the toddler through high
school levels.

Assists in the acquisition and processing of juvenile and young adult print
materials to meet user demand.

Actively pursues  and maintains contact with and providing services to local
organizations and educational groups serving children and young adults

Keeps current on technological advances appropriate to the department

The position also serves as the primary contact for patrons in accessing
library materials, information and reader's advisory for juvenile materials,
answering reference questions and helping with basic technology issues.  

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university or MLS (MLIS)
preferred.
Minimum one year professional public library experience.
Prefer knowledge of the skills needed for early literacy and familiarity
with children's literature.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public.
Must possess physical stamina to lift, bend, stand and walk.
Comfortable with using and assisting patrons with  intermediate level
technology, including fluency with personal electronic devices.
Have reliable transportation with a current driver's license.

Position is being offered in two formats:  25 hours per week part-time, with
no regularly scheduled evenings or Saturdays, or 4- 5 days a week full-time,
35 hours average, including minimum 2 evenings per week and every other
Saturday.  Employee will be enrolled in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement
System, and full-time will be offered health insurance (plan yet to be
determined)  Starting hourly wage is $17.00 per hour.
