The Athens County Public Libraries seek a full time (35 hours per week)
Branch Manager for the Wells Public Library in Albany, OH. This position is
responsible for library services delivered to patrons at the Wells Public
Library; including scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of library
staff; planning and booking library programs based on patron and staff
input; and formulating goals and objectives for the branch library within
the scope of system policies.


A rural community of less than a thousand people, Albany is located
approximately 10 miles from the university town of Athens, Ohio and 85
miles from Columbus, Ohio, the state's capital. The Wells Library was
founded in 1866, endowed by funds provided for in the will of Henry Wells,
an Albany merchant. The Wells Library joined the Athens County Library
system in 1974. One of several Underground Railroad stops in Athens County,
the village was also home to two private schools in the 19th century that
championed education for African American students.  Albany is also known
for being home to the Paw Paw Festival, which attracts visitors and
speakers from across the country interested in sustainability issues and
North America's largest indigenous fruit. The successful candidate will be
able to demonstrate a commitment to building on and further developing the
library’s relationship to this historic community.


Candidates must have a college degree at the bachelor’s level or equivalent
library experience, and 2 years of professional experience in a library or
education setting. Candidates holding an MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited
institution are preferred. Salary begins at $17.00 per hour and is
