[OPLINLIST] background checks for volunteers

Hello,

How does your library handle background checks for volunteers?  Is it
mandatory for all volunteers or only for those working with children and
teens?

We have not required background checks in the past as our volunteers were
typically either teens helping prepare for programs or adults offering
assistance at special events.  But as we look at expanding these
opportunities, we are considering what changes need to be made.

Thank you for any feedback on this topic as we work towards revising our
volunteer policy.
