The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has an immediate opening for a motivated and innovative leader to join its administrative team as the Support Services Manager. The individual will manage a team of dedicated and hard-working staff whose work in technical services, holds management, facilities, and security allows the Tuscarawas County Public Library System to provide its customers with quality collections and services. The individual will actively participate on the library’s management team as it develops and implements system-wide initiatives relevant to the library’s strategic plan.


Position: Support Services Manager


Status: Full Time Salary 40 hrs per week; some evenings and weekends required


Salary: salary range of $40,000- $60,000

Qualifications: Masters in Information and Library Science degree with at least two of the following: 1) three yrs experience in a public library setting, 2) two yrs experience managing people, 3) coursework in collection development, 4) training/experience in cataloging, or 4) experience with building management.


Required Knowledge:  Solid knowledge of public library service including best practices in collection development and facilities management; Strong customer service background; Excellent knowledge of social media and emerging technologies including digital formats; Proficiency with Library ILS and Microsoft applications.


Required Skills: Self-motivation and ability to motivate staff; Ability to prioritize varied tasks; Ability to supervise others and to act independently; Ability to use evidence-based principles related to creating and implementing departmental budgets and departmental strategic plan; Ability to effectively network and represent the library to business and community leaders; Willingness to be active in the Ohio Library Council including travel to trainings and meetings


Duties Include: The successful candidate will work closely with the Library’s Director and members of the management team in providing creative and innovative approaches to library collections, facilities, and services.  Duties include but are not limited to: Oversees system-wide collection development including selection, de-selection, and inventory of materials across the system

  *   Oversees the library system’s holds management processes including daily deliveries of materials and supplies to and from the Main Library

  *   Oversees building, grounds, and renovation projects at the Main Library and branches in cooperation with the Library Director, Assistant Director and other members of management

  *   Oversees and coordinates maintenance and repairs of the Library’s vehicles

  *   Schedules, trains, coaches, mentors, and evaluates staff; delegates responsibility appropriately

  *   Plans and administers the support services budget; Identifies outside sources of funding and writes effective grant applications related to support services

  *   Represents the library in the community; Develops cooperative relationships, forges partnerships, and actively networks in the community

  *   Ensures the creative merchandising of the library collections in cooperation with other members of management and public relations staff

  *   Plans and directs departmental programming in conjunction with administrative goals and objectives, sound child development principles, current educational practices, emerging technologies, and popular youth trends

  *   Evaluates services, recommends policies, establishes departmental goals, plans improvements, and delegates duties based upon the library’s strategic plan

  *   Provides input to the library’s management team regarding support services

  *   Demonstrates a positive attitude and supports library goals and objectives.
