Job Posting Announcement -- Children's Library Assistant, Part-Time

 

The Franklin-Springboro Public Library is a library system consisting of two
separate library branches that serve a community of over 50,000 residents.

 

DATE OF POSTING: November 2, 2018

 

LOCATION: Franklin Public Library, Franklin, Ohio

 

SCHEDULE: Approximately 100 hours a month.  Position requires working some
evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.  A typical schedule will
include the following hours:  Tuesdays 12:00 - 8:00 p.m.; Wednesdays 9:00
a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; Thursdays 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; every third Saturday 9:00
a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; and occasional Sundays 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Children's Services Coordinator in creating,
implementing, and presenting programs for children and child related
programs for parents, caregivers, and teachers.  Provides service to the
community and schools through programming, outreach, and teacher collection
services.  Assists the Supervisor of Children's Services in maintaining and
weeding the juvenile collection.  Performs a variety of standard clerical
and paraprofessional duties, including routine library tasks directly
related to computerized procedures, including checking library materials in
and out; collecting library fines and fees; issuing library cards; assisting
patrons in use of library catalog; assisting patrons with general
information and reader advisory needs; responding to routine inquiries
regarding library policies and procedures; shelving and straightening
materials; repairing materials; and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor's degree desirable.  Experience
working in a public service unit of a public library, proficient in the use
of library catalogs and library circulation systems, experience working with
children, preferred.  

BENEFITS: This is a part-time non-exempt position.  The salary range is
dependent on qualifications.  Benefits include vacation leave and membership
in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
