JOB OPPORTUNITY

Hubbard Public Library seeks an energetic, positive, service-oriented individual to supervise our small, but mighty Technical Services and Circulation Teams.

Position: Technical Services/Circulation Department Supervisor

  *   Full time including some evenings and weekends
  *   Compensation: Starting salary $34,549, benefits package offered

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  *   Demonstrated knowledge of principles of librarianship and administrative ability
  *   Current, working knowledge of cataloging requirements for both print and non-print materials
  *   High level of analytical ability for assessing and responding appropriately to staff and public service situations
  *   Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  *   Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups and to maintain confidentiality as needed
  *   Willingness to learn, utilize, and instruct staff and patrons in use of library technology

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  *   Promotes interdepartmental relations and facilitates communication within the organization
  *   Manages both Technical Services and Circulation Departments: scheduling, communications, planning, budgeting, personnel evaluations, individual task assignments, and training as needed
  *   Selects and orders DVD and CD materials based on patron demand, collection need, and the Library's selection policies
  *   Responsible for weeding the DVD and CD collection
  *   Strong working knowledge of the library's integrated library system (both circulation and cataloging) and online catalog
  *   Maintains library collection and cataloging records
  *   Manages Statistical Reports relevant to Circulation and Technical Services
  *   Assists both Circulation and Technical Services departments as needed
  *   Packs and receives Interlibrary Loan materials as needed
  *   Completes monthly inventory checks
  *   Provides reference service, computer education, and instruction in the use of library materials and services
  *   Prepares daily deposit and assists fiscal officer as needed
  *   Performs other duties as required
