Dear Colleagues,

Please find attached (see link to Adobe Document Cloud below) reading list of books and films to help your community observe the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. As you undoubtedly know, on June 16, 1919, Ohio voted in favor of the Nineteenth Amendment,* twelve days after it had passed the United States Senate. It was not ratified until August 18, 1920, when the Tennessee legislature became the 36th state to approve the amendment.

This list was compiled for the League of Women Voters of Ohio by two scholars and a librarian, with the intent that we would share it widely. It includes items that range from board books for toddlers to scholarly works for historians. We hope you will find it helpful as you plan programming in the year ahead. Please feel free to share it with others, and contact the League of Women Voters of Ohio if you have comments or questions about observing this momentous time in our nation's history. Thank you.

*"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."
