The Board of Trustees of the Bucyrus Public Library is seeking a passionate, forward-thinking, and community-oriented leader to serve as Library 
Director.  
  
RESPONSIBILITIES

The position leads a staff of 15, establishing an organizational vision while working to actively promote and support the functions and activities 
of the library.  Strong emphasis is placed on the position acting as the chief marketer of the Library.  The position also supports an inclusive 
workplace that fosters development and collaboration.  

The work involves strategically building and sustaining community relations, overseeing public library collections, and managing library services 
for patrons and community organizations.   

Duties include policy recommendation, departmental planning and budgeting, and direction and administration of library activities.  The position is 
also invested with making decisions and recommendations related to library technical issues.  The position acts as administrator of the library and 
advisor to the Board of Trustees.

Ohio Library Council, ALA, and PLA membership recognized and supported.
 
QUALIFICATIONS and NECESSARY SKILLS:
•	College degree in communications, public relations, leadership, or related field.  Or, equivalent years of experience demonstrating 
professional leadership in a library, community center, or nonprofit organization.  Preference given to MLS.
•	Excellent ability in fostering strategic, long-term relationships in order to enhance community relations and staff engagement.
•	Strong customer service-orientation, balancing the needs of current and prospective library patrons as well as other stakeholders.
•	Strong conflict-resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
•	Strong understanding of technology and current technology trends.
•	Demonstrated experience and aptitude in fundraising; knowledge of grant-writing a plus.
•	Ability to work various flexible hours.
•	Must be able to work professionally with and present to the Library Board of Directors.
•	Ability to manage various competing priorities while executing successful results.
•	Ability to make decisions that produce high-quality results via technical and problem-solving skills.
•	The Board of Trustees wishes to encourage the Library Director to reside in the service area of Bucyrus in order to establish credibility 
and community relations, to be directly affected as a taxpayer by Library financial decisions, to be served as a resident by the Library and other 
City Departments, and to be able to quickly respond to needs at the Library.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
•	Competitive salary and benefits package; negotiable based upon experience and qualifications.
o	Salary range $60,000 - $75,000
