$1500 Research Fellowship

Kent State University’s School of Information is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for two $1,500 research fellowships:

The Kenneth and Sylvia Marantz Fellowship for Picturebook Research, supported by Dr. Kenneth and Sylvia Marantz, encourages scholarly research on the study of picturebooks using the resources of the Marantz Picturebook Collection for the Study of Picturebook Art.

Each fellowship provides a stipend of $1,500 for outstanding scholars to spend approximately one week on-site, researching children’s literature, picture books, or ephemera related to picturebooks in the Reinberger Children's Library Center and Marantz Picturebook Collection at the Kent State University School of Information in Kent, Ohio, U.S.A.

A Note from the Executive Director
[https://neo-rls.org/photos/50177_03042019090623.jpg]We have been hard at work creating a strategic plan for the next three years. One of our goals is to increase regional leadership opportunities by creating new board committees and opening them up to whomever is interested. In other words, we want to give you plenty of chances to grow! Our first such committee was established as an Ad Hoc Committee at our Board meeting on Tuesday, March 15 th. It is the NEO-RLS Awards Committee and will be headed up by Kim Garrett, Vice-President/President-Elect. We are really interested in sponsoring awards that are meaningful and relevant to our members and to our region. The Awards Committee will be charged with reviewing the current awards <https://www.neo-rls.org/2017-2018_honorees_and_award_w.php> and making recommendations for their continuation or discontinuation. In addition, the Committee will make recommendations for new awards to recognize individuals and libraries within our region. Do you have ideas for a meaningful award? Do you want to help form the criteria for awards or aid in selecting the winners? Do you want to present the awards at our Annual Membership Meeting and Appreciation Breakfast? Then, we want YOU on our Committee. If you are interested or have questions, please contact me <mailto:betsy.lantz at neo-rls.org> . Work will begin soon and we are excited to see what will evolve!
