Fairport Harbor Public Library is seeking two part-time Youth Programming and Outreach Associates.  Both positions will be 20 hours per week, with a schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.   Benefits include paid sick and vacation leave.

Position Description:  This position requires considerable contact with the public.  The Programming and Outreach Associate(Youth focus) will plan, present, and promote creative and innovative programming for children and youth ages 0-16 and their caregivers.  This position will serve as liaison with all Fairport Harbor schools and will act as a library representative at community events.  The Programming and Outreach Associate will share duties at the circulation and reference desks.  The ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional evening and weekend hours is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 2-year college degree / Associates Degree with extensive experience working with young children, school age youth, teens, and families.  Experience working in an educational setting or leading group activities.  Experience in customer service, community outreach, public speaking, event planning, and working within diverse communities.   Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a criminal background check.

Candidates should also present an upbeat attitude, have a sense of humor, and place top priority on customer service.  They should have the ability to work collaboratively with others and have an interest in, comfort with, and a genuine desire to serve and engage with children and young people of all abilities and backgrounds.  Having an interest and knowledge in current literature for children ages 0-16 as well as knowledge of popular materials for patrons of all ages is key.  Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills.
