John is now responsible for leading and managing information technology & support operations for the SEO Library Center and SEO Consortium. He will work closely with the State Librarian, SEO Consortium, and SEO Library Center staff on identifying opportunities for expanding access, planning and implementing projects to enhance SEO operations and service, and developing cost-effective technology solutions to help small and rural libraries better serve their communities.

John joined the SEO staff in 2003 as Network Administrator 2. In that role he was responsible for monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure for the SEO Library Center and maintaining the State Library of Ohio Mobile Technology Training Lab which consisted of 10 network computers connected to the library's network aboard a retrofitted bookmobile. In 2006, he was promoted to Network Administrator 3 and in 2007 to Network Administrator Supervisor to manage IT Infrastructure and SEO's growing membership and services. John managed services of the SEO Support Desk and developed an IT Team consisting of three IT staff to support the SEO consortium and SEO eBook project. John led the transition from the Mobile Technology Training Lab and to an On-Demand Training Program.

"John's in-depth knowledge of the SEO Consortium and his strong working relationships with SEO, State Library, and OPLIN staff made him an obvious choice for the Director's position and I'm very pleased to welcome him into this important leadership role," expressed State Librarian Beverly Cain.

Under the leadership of former SEO Director Dianna Clark, John helped SEO successfully increase membership from 70 libraries with 150 locations in 2007 to 95 libraries with 241 locations today. In 2013, John, Dianna and Sharon Garrett-Hayes were recognized with the Governor's Award for Employee Excellence for their work in migrating the SEO Library Consortium to the Symphony Integrated Library System. The effort saved $1.75 million in software licensing costs for Ohio libraries and streamlined library services for approximately 890,000 registered borrowers.

Prior to joining SEO, John worked at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for nearly seven years, where he received several promotions before being promoted to Network Administrator serving both Noble and Belmont Correction Institutions.
