A Note from the Executive Director, Betsy Lantz
[https://neo-rls.org/photos/59194_02102020090245.jpg]I wasn't sure if rolling out our new 2020 NEO-RLS Awards was appropriate at this time with everything that is going on as people prepare to reopen their libraries. However, after thinking about it for a bit, I decided this is actually a great time to talk about the awards due to all of the new and creative ideas that have popped up as you serve your communities. Do you deserve an award? Do you know someone who does? Along with the Rising Star Award <https://www.neo-rls.org/rising_star_award.php> which honors a library employee with no more than five years' experience, we now have the NEW Shooting Star Award <https://www.neo-rls.org/shooting_star_award.php> to honor library employees who have been working in the field with more than 10 years' of experience. The Ad Hoc Awards Committee (comprised of Michelle Alleman, Kris Carroll, Jessica Divis, Lindsey Myers, Pam Myers, and Kim Garrett) have also created the NEW Advocacy Award <https://www.neo-rls.org/advocacy_award.php> . This award may be given to those who have supported the libraries of our region through their advocacy. The first two award recipients will be selected by our new State Librarian and presented at the annual NEO-RLS Membership Meeting. The Advocacy Award recipient(s) will be selected by the NEO-RLS Awards Committee and presented at the Membership Meeting. If you know someone who has had a positive impact on your library and community, please consider nominating them! The Committee has made it much easier by providing you with a fillable, online form and more specific guidelines. The deadline for all three awards is now September 30th and all of the information you need is on our website under Awards. Honor the stars and advocates in your region by nominating someone today! Please take good care and stay well!

Self-Care Isn't Selfish-Updated to Reflect COVID-19
Self Care Is Survival: Stress, Burnout, Work, & COVID-19
Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 2:00 pm <http://mms.neo-rls.org/Calendar/moreinfo.php?eventid=55985>
Sometimes self-care is about needing a nap. Sometimes it's about survival. Library work, in any role and any type of library, can take a heavy toll on people. Working right now, during a pandemic, gives a whole new definition to stress. This panel presentation will address best practices for self-care from three perspectives: what you can do for yourself, what you can do as a coworker for others, and what you (or others) can do in management roles. Hear from a variety of library staff in different roles and types of libraries. Participants will come away with practical tips and action items to implement right away to better take care of yourself, others, and to foster a physically and mentally healthy work environment.
Many Virtual Opportunities

Statewide Delivery Update

As libraries plan to begin to reopen at various levels of service in the coming weeks, the statewide delivery service will need to become operational. In order for the network to resume, at least 85% of the libraries must be open and accepting deliveries. This includes university libraries. Currently, only 16% of libraries are open to start accepting deliveries. Priority Dispatch will need a two week notice for resuming services. June 1st is the earliest date to reopen the statewide delivery system. Libraries will receive credits on their next invoice for the period of time the system is not running.

Updated Summer Reading Website
As you're working on reframing your summer library program to engage your community while maintaining social distancing and safety requirements, the Ohio Summer Library Program website <https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/youth-services/ohio-summer-library-program/> has been updated with some timely links/resources, including the CSLP's new additional resource packet for libraries. As announced, this free resource includes ideas from current and past CSLP manuals for you to distribute to families or adapt as you want. The resource contains six weeks of content for early literacy, children, teens, adults, and families. All activities provided are intended for patrons to do at home and are little to no cost. The resource also contains ideas and tips for libraries about outreach, partnerships and collaboration, incentives, and summer meals. Download the packet (PDF) at cslpreads.org <https://cslpreads.org> or log in to the CSLP website and navigate to the Online Manual for an editable modular version.
