[cid:image002.jpg at 01D7E69D.9320C010]The State Library of Ohio invites libraries to apply for a collection development grant to purchase books by Ohio authors and books recognized by Ohio-based book award programs. The Celebrating Ohio Book Awards & Authors (COBAA) LSTA grant program is a unique opportunity to enrich library collections with books having an Ohio connection. The maximum grant award is $2,000 per eligible institution.  COBAA grant proposals must be submitted via the State Library website by midnight, January 15, 2022. Using the online grant application process is required.

“The State Library of Ohio is thrilled to be able to offer the COBAA LSTA grant again this year,” expressed Evan T. Struble, Associate State Librarian for Library Development. “Supporting Ohio’s libraries as they bolster their collections, while also spotlighting the high caliber of talented authors and illustrators with an Ohio connection—all while requiring no local match funds—is the epitome of a ‘win-win-win' situation for Ohio’s libraries.”

The 2022 COBAA Book List is a listing of over 1,880 eligible books including those nominated and awarded the Ohioana Book Awards<http://www.ohioana.org/programs/ohioana-book-awards/>, Buckeye Children's and Teen Book Award<http://www.bcbookaward.info/>, James Cook Book Award<http://olc.org/about-us/divisions/teen-services-division/james-cook-book-award/>, Dayton Literary Peace Prize<http://daytonliterarypeaceprize.org/>, The Anisfield-Wolf Award<http://www.anisfield-wolf.org/>, Thurber Prize for American Humor<http://www.thurberhouse.org/thurber-prize-for-american-humor>, and Norman A. Sugarman Children's Biography Award<https://cpl.org/aboutthelibrary/subjectscollections/youth-services/kids/norman-a-sugarman-childrens-biography-award/>. Also included are all Choose to Read Ohio<http://library.ohio.gov/ctro>  and Floyd’s Pick<https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/ctro/floyds-pick/> selections to date. The awarded federal funds must be used to purchase copies of the selected title(s). New this year is an online Book Selection Tool!  This tool includes the full list of eligible books. Users browse the list, and the tool generates a printable list of intended purchases; this list must be included/attached with the online application.

An instructional video will be released on December 9, 2021, detailing the application process, including the new Book Selection Tool.
