West Chester - Makerspace - Full Time

The West Chester Library is preparing to open the makerspace for limited services!!



MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. Nestled between Cincinnati and Dayton, the area has a wide variety of schools, entertainment, dining experiences, sports, and cultural events. We have something for everyone!



As a makerspace specialist, your initial days will be filled with creating a project that a patron has brought in for us to make. Once the makerspace is open for patrons to use the space, you would assist them with their project from initial concept to the final product. You’ll also answer basic and complex STEAM and library related questions using our print and electronic resources. You’ll also develop and teach technology training, operate, maintain, calibrate, clean & troubleshoot the makerspace equipment such as 3D, vinyl & sublimation printers; engravers; presses & audio visual production equipment.

To be successful, you will need to:

  *   Have a high school diploma or equivalent, a STEAM related degree is highly desired
  *   Have proficiency with various hardware & software such as 3D printers; cutters; engravers, sewing machines; audio/visual production equipment; MS Office; the Internet, & ideally the library catalog
  *   Have experience working with the operation & processes involved with DIY making; knowledge of 3D modeling & printing/fabrication; audio/visual production; & the usage of basic hand tools
  *   Effectively & creatively collaborate; problem solve, particularly when procedures are not clearly defined; make independent judgments in the absence of supervision; be adaptable; creative; innovative; detail-oriented; be organized & efficient; positively handle & adapt to change; work independently & with groups.
  *   Effectively read (including cursive), write, speak, & understand English. Must have the ability to work in areas that have loud noise, fumes, dust, or other possible allergens
  *   Need to be able to retrieve parts & pieces in the area, move bins, boxes, or crates that could weigh up to 75 pounds when full, & move carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds when full.



Physical Abilities Include:

Need to be able to retrieve parts & pieces in the area, move bins, boxes, or crates that could weigh up to 200 pounds. Need sufficient visual acuity to distinguish, produce, & view a wide variety of materials in both print & electronic format as needed for the position.



Work Schedule:

Before re-opening: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00
When re-opened: rotating schedule possibly between 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, subject to change.



Salary:

The range for this job is $14.80 - $19.24 per hour depending on your experience.
