Ritter Public Library is a community center for the Vermilion Area, providing free space, information and entertainment. Under general direction, the Community Engagement Librarian supports this mission by providing participation in community initiatives and coordinating internal and external programming. The Community Engagement Librarian will promote programs and services provided by Ritter Public Library. This librarian will foster relationships with organizations in the Vermilion area. This position requires work with local media, creates publicity materials and assists in the maintenance of the library’s website and social media presence. The position requires a high degree of independent initiative as well as collaboration with department staff and other departments.



Qualifications: Three years library experience is required, preferably in a union environment. Candidates will possess a Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution. The Community Engagement Librarian must be proficient in Microsoft Office, have a basic working knowledge of Drupal and SIRSI experience is preferred.



The qualified candidate must be available to work a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends and occasionally split shifts. The hours vary from 35-39 hours weekly, depending on the schedule.



Ritter Public Library is a school district library, established in 1918 by the Vermilion Board of Education. Today the library, a member of CLEVNET, serves approximately 14,543 local residents. Located on Lake Erie, 45 minutes from downtown Cleveland, Vermilion is a community with a summer population that brings greater numbers into the building. The library is open 7 days a week and provides meeting spaces and programs for many. A starting salary range of $35,798.40 - $38,298.40, negotiable depending on experience –will accompany a competitive benefits package.
