A Note From the Fiscal Officer
[https://neo-rls.org/photos/35219_01302017090821.jpg]Baker & Taylor has been a long-time vendor discount partner with
NEO-RLS. Many libraries take advantage of this discount through their NEO-RLS membership. Baker & Taylor provides discounts ranging between 5% - 45.5% through this program. This negotiated discounting allows libraries of all sizes to benefit. If a library spends $40,000 with Baker & Taylor, they could realize savings of around $16,000. One library was able to pay for their NEO-RLS dues with the savings from discounts. They then used this reasoning with Board members that questioned the value of their NEO-RLS membership. The final days of the statewide delivery service transition to Priority Dispatch will be here soon. We understand this has been difficult for you and your patrons and appreciate all efforts to make sure the new service starts off as smoothly as possible for all.
We know most libraries have items in transit, and many have materials waiting for pickup. The State Library and OhioLINK are working to ensure all Ohio library materials safely depart STAT warehouses by April 15 th.
A couple spots are still open for the upcoming in-person Reimagining School Readiness workshop, Tuesday, April 12, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at the State Library of Ohio in Columbus. This is an excellent FREE workshop that focuses on key aspects of child development: quality adult-child interactions, social skills, STEM / math and science learning, executive functions, stress, and growth mindset.
The Buckeye Children's Book Award Council is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2022 Buckeye Children's Book Award and the 2022 Buckeye Teen Book Award. The following titles were chosen in an online nomination process by young readers across the state of Ohio.

Last week the FCC announced that there will be a third filing window ("Window 3") for the Emergency Connectivity Fund , which pays for internet access and laptops/tablets/Chromebooks ("Connected Devices") for students, teachers, and library patrons with an unmet need. " Unmet need" means that the student, teacher, or library patron does not have their own computer and internet service at home that can be used for remote learning.
