MidPointe Library – Public Services Floater – Full Time

Do you like the possibility of having varied duties each day at a different location?



Based out of the West Chester Library, as a library associate, you'll be trained & assigned to float at various MidPointe branches each week, including the bookmobile. As a floater, your day would include answering questions using print & electronic resources, accepting US passport applications; providing directional information, giving reading recommendations to all ages, assisting with check-in & check-out, pulling holds & shelf reading; giving assistance with basic makerspace instruction, & giving instruction on how to use the online card catalog, the Internet, print station, & library research databases. You would use a cash register & credit card machine software. Occasionally you would present an already created story time or program. At times you would assist with various special projects and new services.



MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. To Be Successful, you:

  *   Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  *   Need reliable transportation to travel from branch to branch & be insurable on the library's insurance.
  *   Must be US citizen for passport application duties.
  *   Must be friendly, approachable & provide a positive library experience to patrons.
  *   Must have excellent customer service, a strong service ethic & excellent problem-solving skills.
  *   Must have excellent computer experience using MS Office, the Internet, e-readers, and ideally the library catalog & library research databases. Give instruction on library hardware & software.
  *   Must be able to step in for a co-worker & present an already planned story time, program, or event.
  *   Must have an excellent knowledge of literature that appeals to children, teens & adults.
  *   Must be able to use library conveyor belt machinery & do basic troubleshooting.
  *   Must be able to adapt rapidly to change & accept uncertainty, particularly when working from branch to branch including the bookmobile.
  *   Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced team-based atmosphere.
  *   Must be organized, efficient, work independently & in groups.
  *   Must be able to learn and carry out the responsibilities of the position.
  *   Must be able to effectively hear, read (including cursive), write, speak & understand English, and have sufficient dexterity and visual acuity for job.
  *   Must have regular & predictable physical attendance as required.


Hours:

40 hours per week including days, evenings, & weekends. All shifts depend on library location & hours and will change according to library needs.

A sample schedule is:

Sample Week One: Mon 11-8 at West Chester, Tues 8-5 at Monroe, Wed 8-5 at Trenton, Thurs 11-8 at Middletown, Sat 8:15 -5:15 pm at West Chester.

Sample Week Two: Mon 10:15-7:15 at Liberty, Tues 8-5 at the Middletown call center, Wed 10-7 at Monroe, Thurs 7:30-4:30 on the bookmobile, Fri 10:15-7:15 at Liberty.


Rate of Pay:

The pay range is $14.48 - $21.46 per hour, the rate depends on experience.


Physical Requirements:
-Must be able to work in areas that may contain cleaning odors, dust, or other possible allergens.
-Must have the ability to move book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds, as well as being able to navigate steps on the bookmobile or other library vehicles.
