[OPLINLIST] State Library Honors Board President Alan Hall for His Service

[Two people holding a certificate  Description automatically generated]Board President Alan Hall was recognized and honored for four years of service upon his retirement from the State Library Board with the following resolution:

A RESOLUTION to honor and recognize Alan Hall upon his retirement from the State Library Board.

WHEREAS, Alan Hall served diligently as a member of the State Library Board from January 2019 through December 2022, Vice-President of the State Library Board from January 2021 through December 2021, and President of the State Library Board from January 2022 through December 2022; and

WHEREAS, Alan Hall has been an asset to the library community throughout his five decade career serving at the Washington County Public Library, the Delphos Public Library, and the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, and was named Librarian of the Year by the Ohio Library Association in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Alan Hall has been a library advocate and mentor throughout his career, coordinating library levy campaigns, managing a library automation, overseeing construction and renovations of six buildings and a bookmobile; and

WHEREAS, Alan Hall helped lead the State Library of Ohio through a period of ongoing change, including ongoing budget challenges, a search for a new Executive Director, and support for staff and fellow board members of the State Library of Ohio through an unprecedented pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Alan Hall has contributed in numerous ways to the success of the many programs and services offered by the State Library, including fostering collaboration across types of libraries, supporting innovation, and adaptability; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the members of the Board of the State Library of Ohio, meeting in regular session this 8th day of December 2022, express their individual and collective gratitude and appreciation for Alan Hall.

Alan has over 50 years of experience in Ohio's public libraries. He retired in March 2019 after spending 35 years of his profession as Director of Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. In that same year, he was the 2019 Ohio Library Council Hall of Fame Librarian.

Alan is active in his community having served as a board member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and interpreter and board member at Historic Fort Steuben. He currently serves as a member of the Ohio State University Cooperative Extension Service Advisory Board, member and current President of the Steubenville Historic Landmarks Commission of the City of Steubenville, member and immediate Past-President of the Steubenville Rotary Club, and Clerk of Session at the Two Ridges Presbyterian Church.
