*Introduction to Web Accessibility
<https://events.library.ohio.gov/event/8736626>*

Are you concerned that your library's website isn't meeting accessibility
standards? If not, you should be--lawsuits concerning website accessibility
failures are increasing, and libraries do not have immunity. In this
90-minute webinar presented by Laura Solomon, you'll gain an understanding
of which guidelines are used to measure website accessibility in the United
States, and how to begin to evaluate your own library's site for potential
issues. We'll also discuss some common pitfalls and things to avoid.

Topics for this webinar include: what accessibility means in a web context,
and how it differs from web usability; legal issues surrounding web
accessibility and how these can affect libraries; national and
international standards commonly used for accessibility evaluations, and
which to use, when; an introduction to automated validators and what they
can and cannot do; actual code examples for both good and bad
implementations of some common HTML elements .

*Wednesday, April 6, 10:30-11:30 am*

*Choosing the Right Social Media Platforms for Your Library
<https://events.library.ohio.gov/event/8736671>*

Every library needs a social media presence. However, not all social media
platforms are created equal. Each platform has its own audience with its
own quirks as to how it interacts with content. But, with so many choices,
how do you know where to focus your library’s limited resources and staff
time? In this webinar, learn which target audiences best match up to which
popular platforms and the important nuances of picking the right digital
place for your marketing efforts.

*Wednesday, September 7, 10:30-11:30 am*

*How to Create Accessible PDFs
<https://events.library.ohio.gov/event/8736809>*

Even if a library has been focusing on making its website more accessible,
the PDFs that patrons might be able to download are often overlooked. PDF
documents are not inherently accessible, and actually require specific
effort to make them so. In this session, learn some concrete actions you
can take so that everyone has access to your library’s PDF content.
