The Dayton Metro Library is seeking a part-time (24 hours per week) Information Services Librarian (Technology Emphasis) for our New Lebanon Branch Library. The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching and explaining technology to fellow staff members and patrons.  They will also spend the majority of their shifts on the service desk when not teaching in the classroom or in a one-on-one setting. Essential Job Duties

  *   Demonstrates excellent internal and external customer service. Creates a welcoming atmosphere in the adult public service areas through personal presence and area's design.
  *   Provides library users with assistance in reference, readers' advisory, information literacy, and in the use of library materials and reference resources. Serves at the Ask Me Desks and in a roaming capacity.
  *   Assists patrons in finding and selecting library materials and in the use of the public computers, personal electronic devices, and library virtual materials.

*         Demonstrates a knowledge of available and emerging technologies and their application to reference work, especially as they relate to adults.

  *   Designs, promotes, presents and evaluates technology programs and activities for adults that address community needs.  Promotes the use of library resources in conjunction with these programs.
  *   Provides services and maintains liaisons with community leaders, networking groups, and community agencies that provide technology support, attends community meetings, and gives presentations on DML technology initiatives and issues.

Job Qualifications

  *   Master's degree in Library and Information Science (preferred) or its equivalent in education and experience is required.
  *   Valid Ohio driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle record, and continuous insurability required.  Ability to drive vehicle.
  *   Knowledge of professional library principles, methods, techniques and procedures.
  *   Knowledge and appreciation of adult literature, periodicals, audiovisual materials, web sites and other electronic media, and materials which constitute a diverse, current and relevant adult collection.
  *   Knowledge of available and emerging technologies and their application to reference work.
  *   Adept at learning new technologies.  Ability to develop teaching outline for instructing colleagues and patrons.  Previous training experience is a plus!
  *   Schedule includes day time, evening and Saturday hours.

Compensation and Benefits:  Starting hourly wage is $23.79 (with a Master's Degree) with an exceptional benefits package.
