I have had success with a workstation running BlueIris on Windows, 10T external storage, and Amcrest cameras, all bought online. We have 40+ cameras going and the workstation (Intel i9, onboard graphics) is plugging along at 6% CPU. BI is updated about every 2 weeks with sometimes substantial improvements. Staff can access real-time or get clips via a web interface.

I've had the opportunity to experience a small handful of different security camera installers over the years. I have definitely NOT recommended many of them. These are two shining stars of the companies I have any experience with:

On behalf of one of my libraries, I've had several technical/IT interactions over the last several months with several different techs from a company called Schmidt Security Pro out of Mansfield. They replaced the NVR for a 25-30 camera system in the main library (keeping nearly all of the existing cameras from a previous company) and installed/linked a 3-5 camera system in a nearby out-building (along with a wireless bridge between the two.) I have no problems recommending this company as a security camera vendor. I very much like and approve of the installers, the techs, and the technology they're using.

Another company I've been recommending for several years now to my libraries for various work, Vision Concept Technology, also does security cameras. They installed an NVR-less set of individual cameras for one of my libraries quite a few (like 10+) years ago and have installed a camera system in another of my libraries within the past couple of years, but I haven't personally played with their current camera system. Regardless, whether it's a camera system, VOIP system, or just network cabling runs...I very much approve of the work they've done for my libraries when I'm directly involved in a project and I've heard nothing but positives when I'm not directly involved. I'm presently working with them at one library and have another project later in the year that I'm hoping to get them involved in. They do happen to be a direct competitor of mine in some of their services. But I forgive them. ;-)

(Maybe if you say Chad from Level 9 Networks recommended them they'll be extra nice to you. Or maybe not. I dunno, but it can't hurt to try, right?!)

Good luck on your project!
Chad
