MidPointe Library – Makerspace Library Specialist – Full Time

The West Chester Library has re-opened the makerspace!!

This is your opportunity to be a part of this unique and exciting service to help the

community create, make, and innovate!



As a makerspace specialist, your days will be varied with providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons their DIY project from their initial concept to the final product, & answering basic & complex STEAM & library related questions. You'll develop & teach technology training classes to certify patrons in the usage of the equipment; & operate, maintain, calibrate, organize, clean & troubleshoot the makerspace equipment such as 3D, vinyl & sublimation printers; engravers; presses; & audio-visual production equipment. You'll also track consumable materials & request more when appropriate; schedule equipment reservations for patrons; and give tours of the makerspace.



MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. To Be Successful, you will need to:

  *   Have a high school diploma or equivalent, a STEAM related degree is helpful
  *   Must have proficiency with various hardware & software such as 3D printers; cutters; engravers, sewing machines; audio/visual production equipment; MS Office; the Internet, & ideally the library catalog.
  *   Need experience working with the operation & processes involved with DIY making; knowledge of 3D modeling & printing/fabrication; audio/visual production; & the usage of basic hand tools.
  *   Must have excellent customer service; be able to effectively & creatively collaborate; problem solve, particularly when procedures are not clearly defined; make independent judgments in the absence of supervision; be adaptable, creative, innovative, detail-oriented, organized, & efficient; positively handle & adapt to change; & work independently as well as with groups.
  *   Must be able to effectively read (including cursive), write, speak, & understand English.
  *   Need to be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
  *   Have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish, produce, & view a wide variety of materials in both print & electronic formats.

Rate of Pay:
The pay range is $15.74-$24.89, the pay rate depends on experience.


Hours:

40 hours per week, a usual schedule is:

Mondays, 11 am - 8 pm, Tuesdays 9 am - 6 pm, Wednesdays 11 am – 8 pm, Thursdays 9 am - 6 pm, Fridays off, & Saturdays 8 am – 5 pm. Sundays are on a rotation basis. The hours are subject to change within the library's operational hours according to business needs.

Physical Requirement:

-Need to be able to retrieve parts & pieces in the area; move bins, boxes, or crates that could weigh up to 75 pounds when full; & move carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds when full.

-Must possess sufficient manual dexterity & fine motor skills to operate equipment, handle tools, & perform general typing & keyboard operation position requirements.

-Must be able to work in areas that have loud noise, fumes, odors, dust, or other possible allergens.
