Since 1903, the Barberton Public Library (BPL) has been an essential community asset. With two locations, our team provides outstanding customer service while demonstrating the BPL core values of equity, service, community support, caring, innovation, and lifelong learning.

We seek an enthusiastic and dynamic Librarian to work collaboratively in delivering innovative programs, services, and resources to the community. Responsibilities include providing reference, readers’ advisory, and technology assistance to patrons, developing and maintaining a part of the Library’s collection, and creating programming and services to meet the needs and interests of the community.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including vacation and sick leave, 12 paid holidays, health, dental, and life insurance, and retirement through the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).

Qualifications: A Master of Library and Information Science degree from an ALA accredited School of Library and Information Science required. Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated knowledge of professional library principles, methods, procedures, and trends required. Valid driver’s license required. Experience in a public library setting preferred. Applicants with 6 credit hours or less towards completion of the M.L.I.S may be considered.



Salary range: $18.11 - $25.41 per hour / 35 hours per week.  Starting compensation depends on qualifications and experience.
