This will be held at the Twinsburg Public Library. In this half-day workshop, Katie Mattise and Marquis Davis from Kent State University will provide an introduction to DEI through Recognizing Bias, Addressing Microaggressions, and Intersectionality 101.

In 2022, NEO-RLS instituted a DEI training requirement for all Board of Trustees, Board Committees, and Advisory Group members. If you plan to participate in NEO-RLS governance in 2023-2024, this workshop is a great opportunity to get a head start on this requirement.

Staff Day

We are pleased to announce that NEO-RLS Staff Day will be held on October 9, 2023, at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, OH. Below is the cost per person plus a surcharge of $25 for meals and facilities.

  *   Gold Member Rate:      $20
  *   Silver Member Rate:     $50
  *   Bronze Member Rate:   $75
  *   Non-member Rate:      $100

The event will feature a keynote speaker, 3-5 breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and dedicated time for library meetings. This will ensure that we can accommodate everyone.

With summer right around the corner, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) is recruiting locations around Ohio to be Summer Food Service Program<https://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=203703413&mm=75484035813> (SFSP) sites.
Your library may already participate in the SFSP, a USDA-funded program that provides free meals and snacks to children ages 0-18 in communities with high levels of need.

Interested?

  *   If you are already an SFSP site (or have been a site in the past), work with your regular sponsor to prepare for summer 2023.

Cindy Hohl, Freedom to Read Foundation Treasurer and American Library Association 2023-24  President-Elect, will be speaking at the Akron Roundtable on Thursday, May 18, 2023, 12:00 pm at the Quaker Station on the campus of The University of Akron. The topic will be, “Ohio Unbanned: Librarians Protect Your Rights to Read and View Against Censorship.” The event will also include lunch, time for networking, and Q&A for Ms. Hohl. The cost to attend is $25.
