Are you looking for ways to make your library more inclusive? Join us on Friday, November 17 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for a day of networking and training. Attendees will have the option to attend in person at the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library (146 South Paint St., Chillicothe, OH. 45601) or virtually over Zoom. Zoom links will be sent via email closer to the event date. Questions may be sent to Grace Walker, gwalker at pickeringtonlibrary.org.
9:30-10:00- Arrival for in-person attendees
10:00-11:00- Ohio Deaf and Blind Education Services
Statewide Services & Outreach from the Ohio Deaf & Blind Education Services will present information about accessible literacy for learners that are blind/visually impaired and those that are d/Deaf or hard of hearing. Educational Consultants that are Teachers of the Visually Impaired will present on accessibility for blind and visually impaired students based on their unique needs. Consultants that are Teachers of the Deaf will then share accommodations that can promote access for children that are d/Deaf or hard of hearing, regardless of their communication modality.

11:15-12:15- Anna Jeffries, Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities
As the public information officer of the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Anna Jeffries works to help people with disabilities and the people who support them connect with their community, including local resources such as libraries. She’ll share some of the tips and suggestion she’s learned to help libraries promote the inclusive work they are doing and all the free opportunities they make possible.

1:00-2:00- Jake Stone, Teaching Books
Library staff know the impact of their collections and displays, and strive to empower readers by providing vetted materials that respect their differences and similarities. Join this session to learn about the State Library of Ohio’s Collection Analysis Initiative, which grants free access to tools that analyze collections of children’s and young adult titles through a myriad of inclusive measures—including cultural representation, reading level, recency, and beyond. Attendees will leave the session with indefinite access to tools, training materials, and personalized support.
2:00-3:00- Tanya Corso, Bridgeway Therapy Center
Tanya Corso, MM, MT-BC, is the Music Therapy Department Manager at Bridgeway Therapy Center, and she will provide an overview of the field of music therapy.  Attendees will learn about music therapy in Ohio as a whole and some ways in which it can be used with autistic individuals to foster social engagement and opportunities for learning.
