This might be a question for OLC, but I don't think Friends groups are regulated by the Ohio Revised Code and don't have to follow sunshine laws. It would make sense to have meetings at a time and place convenient for new members, though.

Subject: [OPLINLIST] friends of the library
I have a group of ladies that "saved" our friends' group by agreeing to take over the duties from the 2 ladies that had been running it for a very long time. It has been fairly inactive the last 10 years.
My question is, are they obligated to host open meetings that all members can attend? Currently they work together to pick a time each month and meet. I asked them to pick a set date so that it could be added to our calendar as a reoccurring event.
I think they would get more buy in if they let paying members attend and volunteer, I just wasn't sure if they legally had to host an open meeting.
Thanks everyone.
