Librarian, School Delivery - Collection Services
Salary Range: $49,587.20 - $77,396.80 annually
PURPOSE OF JOB:
Responsible for curating the School Delivery collection, including creating bins of high interest, age/grade-level appropriate materials for the School Delivery Service. Ensures materials fall within scope of School Delivery collection and support program goals to engage readers and encourage independent classroom reading. Orders replacements and formulates bin contents guidelines. Promotes service to teachers via regular communication and presentations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1.  Performs collection development for the School Delivery collection based on scope and youth customer interest in various material types. Ensures collection supports program goals to engage young readers.
  2.  Applies knowledge of children's material to create grade level bins of books for classrooms served by the School Delivery service.
  3.  Develops bin content guidelines and adjusts as needed based on evolving student interests and reading trends.
  4.  Creates themed teacher collections for School Delivery schools within the established timeframe and coordinates delivery of teacher collections to the schools.
  5.  Promotes the School Delivery program through community outreach, relationship building and information sharing with schools, teachers, and administrators.
  6.  Uses Polaris for circulation functions, record set creation and collection maintenance
  7.  Maintains schedule of collection weeding so that bins are regularly refreshed throughout the school year.
  8.  Assists with Outreach Services or Collection Services duties as needed.
  9.  Supervises volunteers and/or practicum students/interns.
  10. Performs additional duties as assigned including being a project lead and/or serving on task forces, committees, etc.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1.  Master's of Library and Information Science Degree from ALA accredited institution of higher learning required.
  2.  1-3 years' working with youth required.
  3.  Acts with the customer in mind using information gained from interacting with the customers. Meets the expectations and requirements of external and internal customers.
  4.  Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  5.  Demonstrated knowledge of children's literature.
  6.  Ability to work independently with limited direction.
  7.  Ability to effectively present in a variety of formal settings - one on one, group, peers, direct reports, etc. Command attention and manage group process.
  8.  Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e., Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
  9.  Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.
