This has been cross posted.

Perry County District Library is looking to host the program MUSH with Noggin, the Sled Dog on June 11, during Summer Reading 2024. This program is presented by Karen Land, a writer, speaker, and three-time participant in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska. Because we are hoping to host Karen and her dog, Noggin, during the Summer Reading months, she is looking for more opportunities to present in Ohio and surrounding states.

If interested in hosting Karen and Noggin, please be sure to mention Perry County District Library in your correspondence. She has presented on this topic more than 30 times in the State of Ohio.

To learn more about the program, view photos, and for Karen's contact information, please see below:

MUSH with Noggin, the Sled Dog!

Karen Land-writer, public speaker, and three-time participant in the 1,049-mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race across Alaska-and her Alaskan husky, Noggin, will be giving Summer Reading public library presentations in Ohio and the Midwest next Summer 2024.

Since 2000, Karen has given over a thousand talks in almost every state. Karen loves providing MUSHING talks for always-eager students and enthusiastic library patrons. Dogs, the sport of mushing, and Alaska inspire a diverse audience, making the event fun and interesting for all ages.

Dog mushing, a traditional mode of arctic transportation, is a unique subject perfect for every classroom. From STEM (climate change and environmental studies) to literature (Gary Paulsen and Jack London) to the arts and physical education, the options for exploration are endless.
