MidPointe Library - Makerspace Technician - 2 Full Time Openings - Middletown, OH

Our Middletown Library is preparing to open a Makerspace within the Library!!
Your creativity will help our patrons create, make & innovate!

Based out of the Middletown Library, as a makerspace technician, you'll enrich our community by meshing your makerspace skills with your customer service skills. You'll assist patrons with their project from initial concept to the final product. You’ll also answer makerspace related questions; develop & teach technology training, operate, maintain, calibrate, clean & troubleshoot the makerspace equipment such as poster photo printer; large format vinyl printer; digital conversion equipment; sound booth and audio recording equipment including green screen & accessories; and podcasting equipment.

MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. Nestled between Cincinnati and Dayton, the county has a wide variety of schools, entertainment, dining experiences, sports, and cultural events. We have something for everyone!

To be successful, you will need to:

Have a high school diploma or equivalent, a makerspace related degree is highly desired.
  *
Have excellent customer service.
  *
Have proficiency with various hardware & software such as audio/visual production equipment; sound booth equipment; large format vinyl & poster photo printers; MS Office; and the Internet.
  *
Have experience working with the operation & processes involved with DIY making; video & audio production; usage of basic hand tools; develop & teach instructional makerspace classes; and troubleshoot & basic makerspace equipment repairs.
  *
Effectively & creatively collaborate; problem solve, particularly when procedures are not clearly defined; make independent judgments in the absence of supervision; be adaptable; creative; innovative; be detail-oriented, organized & efficient; positively handle & adapt to change; work independently & with groups.
  *
Effectively read (including cursive), write, speak, & understand English.
  *
Be able to learn and carry out the responsibilities of the assigned position. Able to float to other makerspace facilities.
  *
Must have regular & predictable physical attendance.


Rate of Pay:
The pay range is $17.00 – $27.30. The pay rate depends on job factors such as experience, job skills, education, and languages spoken.

Physical Abilities Include:
-Must have the ability to work in areas that have loud noise, fumes, dust, or other possible allergens.
-Need to be able to retrieve parts & pieces, move items that could weigh up to 75 pounds & move carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds when full.
-Must possess sufficient manual dexterity & fine motor skills.

Work Schedule:
Before grand opening: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
After grand opening: Mon-Thurs 11am-8pm, Fri: 8am-5pm, rotating weekends.
Hours are subject to change and can be anytime within library operational hours, including evenings and weekends.
