A reminder that OPLIN can deliver ILS notices to patron cell phones as text
messages for Ohio public libraries.
Major cell carriers have long offered email-to-text gateways. Some SMS
carriers will be discontinuing
<https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1061254> that service by
June 2025; others are already inactive. If your library sends ILS notices
to <patronnumber>@<carrier.tld>, I invite you to switch to using OPLIN's
service.
OPLIN's SMS service uses a registered 10DLC (10 digit long code) that
delivers library notices to patrons as native SMS. OPLIN's service complies
with federal laws for spam prevention, and delivers over 10,000 SMS/day.
Cell carriers disabling their email-to-text gateways will not affect
delivery through OPLIN's service.
OPLIN's SMS service continues to be free to Ohio public libraries.
