[OPLINLIST] Insurance Valuation of General Collections

Hello OPLIN, and greetings from Kent State.

I am engaged in a project with a colleague from Miami University investigating library practices around the valuation of general collections for insurance purposes. We are writing a paper to serve as a practical guide for librarians who engage in this work in some way. We aim to write the article all of us could have used when tasked with coming up with our library's annual collections valuation numbers, dealing with an insurance company on post-disaster replacement, and so on. We know that public libraries and librarians have a lot of good knowledge and experience that can strengthen this project.

If you are at an institution that has experienced a disaster that has impacted your general collections, we would appreciate any information you can share with respect to insuring and replacing collections. Our article will include a section where we share information from real-world examples of insurance-related experiences as part of the disaster recovery process for general collections.

We do not expect your participation/sharing to take more than 10 minutes, depending on how much you would like to share! Our form is only 12 questions long (including general demographics of your library).
