Event Name: Boom and Bust: Libraries Navigating Economic Change in Their Communities
Event Date: March 4, 2026
In partnership with the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library<https://www.crcpl.org/>, OhioNet is excited to announce Boom and Bust: Libraries Navigating Economic Change in Their Communities. This event is a full-day, in-person, free event hosted at the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library Annex at 140 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, Ohio on March 4, 2026.
Boom and Bust will provide an opportunity for all Ohio libraries to discuss ways they are thriving, surviving, and supporting their communities during both good and challenging economic times.
We invite proposals for presentations that highlight the following, or similar, topics:   
Boom: Leveraging good economic times to build a firm foundation

  *
Power of Partnerships: campus, community, governmental, inter-library.
  *
Funding Strategies: gifts, donations, grants, Friends fundraising.
  *
Bolstering the Budget: investments, realignments, and savings.
  *
Sharing Success: advocacy, demonstrating value, and telling your story.


Bust: Sustaining library operations to support the community during challenging economic times

  *
Power of Partnerships: campus, community, governmental, inter-library.
  *
Library Services and Resources: job hunting, skills development, recreation, well-being.
  *
Budget Blues: strategies to navigate funding cuts and worst-case scenarios.
  *
Demographic Shifts in Service Communities: college enrollment changes, residents moving in/out.
  *
Navigating Legislative Change: library funding, property taxes, advocacy.


Proposal Guidelines:   

  *
Title of Presentation: A concise and engaging title.
  *
Abstract: 250-500 words summarizing the content of your presentation and its relevance to the summit.
  *
Presenters: Name, title, and affiliation of proposed presenter(s).
  *
Format(s) of presentation you would be willing to accept as a presenter:
     *
Panel session participant
     *
10-minute lightning round presentation
     *
20-minute presentation
     *
Roundtable discussion facilitator
     *
Poster
  *
Technical Requirements: Any special equipment, set-up, or accessibility needs that we should consider.
