Are you looking for ways to make your library more inclusive? Join us on Friday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a day of networking and training. Attendees will have the option to attend in-person at the State Library of Ohio (274 E. 1st Ave. #100, Columbus, Ohio 43201) or virtually over Zoom. In-person registration is capped at 48 people due to room capacity requirements. The State Library will have several resources available for in-person attendees to explore, including Talking Book Players and Braille Readers. They will also be leading a tour of the library during the lunch break. 10-11: Disability Etiquette for Inclusive Experiences: Coworkers and Customers
Presented by Julie Lasher and Julie Wood of Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities
Discover ways to have respectful interactions with coworkers and customers, including coworkers and customers with disabilities. This training includes information on disability awareness, disability etiquette, general communication tips, and ideas for creating an inclusive environment.

Presented by Amanda Toth of The Lane Libraries
This session will focus on making your library space inclusive for patrons of differing bodies and sizes. We'll discuss furniture options - for patrons, staff, during programs, etc.

12:45: Tour of State Library for in-person attendees
Shannon Kupfer-Trausch will be leading a tour of the State Library during the lunch break.
1:15-2:15: Demystifying Sensory Storytime
Presented by Brittney Houchins of The Lane Public Library
Join us as we discuss inclusion and neurodivergent-friendly programming in a library setting! Learn how to plan and implement a Sensory Storytime, how to add sensory elements into everyday programs, and how to demystify stigmas surrounding inclusive programming.

2:30-3:30: Dylsexia & Technology: Myths, Facts, and Tools
Presented by Amy Duncan, M.A. Ed. and Cassondra Wilson, M.A., CCC-SLP
Dyslexia impacts learners across all ages, but technology can provide powerful tools to support access, independence, and success. This session will explore common myths and facts about dyslexia and highlight practical technology solutions for both children and adults. Participants will gain an understanding of how tools such as text-to-speech, audiobooks, speech-to-text, and organizational apps can reduce barriers and promote learning. Strategies for implementation in libraries, classrooms, and workplaces will also be shared.
