[OPLINLIST] Homeschooling

Currently we've offered 3 homeschool specific programs at our library that have been successful.

  1.   Homeschool Bookish Club - (Offered Bi-weekly, with the focus on 3 areas  (Public speaking (show and tell),  Reading (Storytime with book discussion) and a STEAM activity related to the book geared for ages k-5)
  2.  Teen Homeschool Bookish -  (Offered Bi-weekly, at the same time as the other group, but more book discussion group with STEAM activity focused on grades 6 and up)
  3.  Homeschool Art Show (Annual in May for 2 weeks to visit display, but opening night gala brings approximately 100 visitors)
In addition, our outreach (bookmobile) makes stops to several homeschool co-ops.  We will also be having a visit with a new homeschool co-op in November (as a community worker visitor).  Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Subject: [OPLINLIST] Homeschooling

I have been getting questions about what kinds of things do we do with homeschooler groups.  As of now, we don't have any type of homeschooling programs.  What kinds of things/programs do any of you do with homeschooling groups?  Our library serves the Allen County area and there seems to be a lot of homeschooling groups, and I wouldn't know what to do or look into for this.  Do you have any suggestions or ideas?  If your library has homeschooling programming, has it been beneficial for your community and library?  Do you need a lot of staffing for it?  I would just like to gather some information and ideas before deciding on what to do.
