As we move into late summer/early fall, thoughts start to turn to next year's Ohio Center for the Book's Great Reads from Great Places.
We encourage everyone to suggest titles for consideration, either for younger readers or for adults (18+) or both. You can enter your suggestions at https://forms.gle/zoQzmPgvNRt2eA639
The Ohio Center for the Book is one of 56 Centers for the Book affiliated with the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.<https://www.loc.gov/programs/center-for-the-book/about-this-program/affiliate-centers-for-the-book/>, representing each state and U.S. territory. Every year, the affiliated Centers for the Book select a youth and an adult “Great Reads from Great Places” book to represent their state at the annual National Book Festival in Washington, DC.
The Ohio Center for the Book encourages everyone to suggest titles for younger readers or for adults for consideration for the 2027 selections. The general criteria include:
*
The book is written by a living Ohio author, either born in Ohio or having lived/living in the state for at least five years.
*
The book is about an Ohio topic or person or uses Ohio as the setting.
*
The book should have been published within the last five (5) years.
*
The book being published by an Ohio publisher is a bonus but is not required.
*
Books nominated can be fiction, nonfiction, graphic novel (Fiction or Nonfiction), or poetry.
*
Books for younger readers can be for any age, from picture books to middle-grade books through books written for young adults.
*
Books should be widely-available for purchase or be available in libraries
*
Books must be traditionally published – self-published or subsidized titles are not eligible.
We look forward to sharing all the suggested titles with our selection committee members.
If you would like to be considered to be a part of next year's Youth or Adult selection committee, send an email to ohiocenterforthebook at cpl.org with "Great Reads Selection Committee" in the subject line. We have a couple spaces left for new members!
