The role oversees a large portion of the Library's day-to-day operations, supervising the leaders of the Adult Services, Collection Development, Security & Safety, Technical Services, Youth Services, and Public Services (Main Library, 18 branches, and Mobile Services) agencies.  The role regularly works cross-functionally to cultivate effective relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, the Board of Trustees, and those outside the organization, such as vendors.

Specialty areas include health information for consumers; Patent & Trademark Resource Center; Small Business & Nonprofit Resource Center; Martin Luther King Collection; other business research, job and career resources; government documents; cake pans and kitchen tools in our Library of Things; and a seed sharing library.
