One of OPLIN's primary duties is to ensure the security and integrity of
its network. Part of this job includes the prevention of spreading
computer viruses. As highlighted at the recent OPLIN Stakeholders
Meeting, we are taking steps to protect the OPLIN e-mail server from
virus propagation. However, this is just one step in protecting the
OPLIN Intranet as a whole. To move towards complete protection, OPLIN
needs your help. 
 
OPLIN can only try to protect the outer borders of the Intranet; it's up
to each individual library to protect its own sphere. In an effort to
help you save money and protect individual library local area networks,
OPLIN has been able to negotiate a great price for virus protection with
Symantec. The pricing matrix and what the product offers can be seen
below.

These prices represent the total cost per computer protected by
Symantec, and they're based on coverage through June 2005. Therefore,
the maintenance cost will change as it is prorated through June 2005.
OPLIN has also arranged with Symantec to extend this offer to your staff
for home use; however, license, maintenance, and media must be purchased
for each home use. 
 
Symantec has requested that all orders be placed with their retail
partner SARCOM. Symantec will not honor this pricing directly. All
orders must be made through SARCOM. To take advantage of this great
