[OPLINTECH] Frontpage question

We are having a problem installing the web component "hit counter" to our website.  I've searched high and low for what the problem might be.  We have the extensions installed on our server.  We follow all the instructions yet when we upload to our server, "[hit counter]" is what we see live online instead of the numbers. What are we doing wrong?
