ITSD Network Services Customer Update - April 16, 2004


Scheduled Maintenance:

Tuesday, April 20,  3:00 - 6:00 a.m.

Routing changes will be made on RROSN to move traffic from an OC12 to a
Gigabit Ethernet interface.  There may be a momentary outage for OECN, K12
customers.

Tuesday, April 27, 3:00 - 6:00 a.m.

ITSD network engineers will be making routing adjustments in the core of
the ohio.gov network.  All customers may experience several instances of
short (several minutes) connectivity interruptions to certain State Network
destinations, as well as to the Internet.

Completed Maintenance:

April 13, 2004

ITSD network engineers installed Gigabit Ethernet transceivers in the
primary Internet Border Router at the SOCC.


Security Assessment:

ITSD is currently undergoing a Security Assessment and Risk analysis.  An
outside vendor has been contracted to conduct this study for ITSD as well
as thirteen other state entities.  To minimize network impact, the
assessment towards networking devices and critical equipment will be
conducted during the next three maintenance windows that occur from 3:00 am
to 6:00 a.m. every Tuesday.

Domain Name System Procedure:

Effective April 19, 2004 all DNS requests that are received in the Network
Operations Center after 4:00pm will be processed the next business day.
