In addition to the suggestion about checking the permissions on the
_vti_pvt directory, you might also check the following in IIS:
Right-click on your web site in IIS and select Properties. Under the
"Home Directory" tab check that the Applications Settings is activated.
A simple name like "default" is all that is needed. Click on the
Configuration button and make sure that .asp and .cgi are setup to execute.
Close the Properties and right-click on your web site again. This time
select "All tasks > Check Server Extensions". Allow it to tighten
security on your web. When that finishes, right-click on your web site
and select "All tasks > Recalculate web". These two steps will help
reset your FrontPage extensions and correct damaged shared borders,
permissions, script problems, etc.
The best place that I've found for solving these problems has been
Microsoft's site
(http://search.microsoft.com/search/search.aspx?st=a&View=en-us) and
entering the complete error message from the Event Viewer as the search.
