[OPLINTECH] LCD monitors on patron computers

We at Greene County have had flat screen monitors on our OPACs since 2000, and flat screens on the service desks since maybe 2001. In that time we have had only 1 child write on one with a magic marker (which cleaned off) and a few instances of cables coming loose when staff try to rotate the monitors to show patrons information. IMHO as prices drop they become a realistic alternative, they do indeed take up less space, and do make a statement to the public.

Has anyone deployed LCD monitors to your public access computers? If so, how much of a beating do they take? Also, how often do you find that you have to have them repaired and/or replaced due to screen damage?
Thanks!
