Office of Information Technology Customer Update - June 18, 2004
Scheduled Maintenance:
None.
Completed Maintenance:
Tuesday, June 15, 2004, 3:00 - 6:00am
OIT network engineers performed maintenance on the primary and backup
Internet border routers.
Outage on June 15, 2004:
The State of Ohio's OC48 primary Internet connection, at the State of
Ohio Computer Center, went down on June 15, 2004 at 11:54 local time due
to a Time Warner Telecom configuration error. Our Internet traffic was
re-routed to our backup OC12 located at the Rhodes State Office Tower.
There was no disruption to our Internet service. At 7:45 local time, on
June 16, 2004, Time Warner Telecom resolved their issue and our primary
connection was restored. =20
Domain Name System Procedure:
Effective June 11, 2004 all DNS requests that are received in the
Network Operations Center, after 4:00pm, Monday through Friday will be
processed the next business day. Any requests received after 4:00pm on
Friday will be processed the following business day (Monday) to take
effect on Tuesday.

Non-TCP/IP Protocols:
Included in the Office of Information Technology's Long Range Plan is
provide a TCP/IP only ohio.gov backbone. Our goal is to remove all
Non-TCP/IP protocols (DECnet, SNA, IPX, Appletalk, etc.). OIT network
engineers will be contacting agencies, boards and commissions, in the
near future, that are still using Non-TCP/IP protocols, to work with
them on determining an alternate solution.
