unusual traffic.

Hey all-

Ever since the recent virus outbreak, periodically when searching Google
we have to enter a "password" displayed on a special page that Google
puts up after you search (see attachment.)  It is inconsistent from day
to day.  This only happens when accessing the internet through our
filtering servers.

We have N2H2 proxy servers running Win2k that have been patched and had
all applicable anti-virus updates applied to them so I am reasonably
sure that these servers are ok and were not infected with the virus.

When we contacted Google, they sent the following response:

Thank you for your note. The captcha page you're referring to is served
by
Google when we experience a quick spike in traffic on Google.com. In
order
to continue using Google, simply type the squiggly word into the box
below. A captcha image helps us determine whether traffic is coming from
automated robot software or individual users, since most robots aren't
smart enough to read the squiggly text. We apologize for any
inconvenience
this page may have caused and thank you for taking the time to write to
us.

I am trying to track down why we get this and to see if it is something
specific to our host addresses or something across the entire OPLIN
network.  Has anyone else seen this over the last week?
