Although tools are needed to clean already infected PC's, they stand in
the way of global management. They are just another program to maintain
on the PC and another cause for concern when they don't work properly.
It is always better to think global with GPO.

>From spyware blasters website:

1)Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser
hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software.
2)Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and
Mozilla/Firefox.
3)Restrict the actions of potentially unwanted sites in Internet
Explorer.

These things can be accomplished by turning off active x in browsers, by
enforcing a GPO that supports running only allowed software, and by
using content management (i.e. Squid, Dansguardian, Blue-Coat, etc..).

This keeps everything almost specifically server-based and helps with
maintaining a consistent environment that is easy to manage.

Please note that this is not an attempt to step on any toes, but rather
a suggestion for an easier way to manage an environment with similar
results.
