OPLIN staff have been working this past week with OHIONET staff to set up
easy access to the optional database subscriptions that many libraries
recently purchased through OHIONET. As part of this process, we have
decided to set up a revised page for accessing databases, both those
provided by OPLIN / Libraries Connect Ohio and those purchased by
individual libraries.
You can see this new page at http://oplin.org/databases/index.php. If you
wish, you can point to this web page from your library's website. (For
example, if you currently point from your page to
http://search3.webfeat.org/oplinsearch.html, you could change it to point
to the new page.) Should you choose to do that, you will certainly want to
review the list of "locally purchased databases" that appear when you
access the page from a computer within your library. This information will
most likely be incomplete, since we do not have any good way of knowing
all of the databases which your library may have purchased. We can easily
add these missing databases if you send an e-mail to support at oplin.org and
include the ~specific~ name of the database and your library's name.
Note that the database searching (OneSearch) has not changed -- yet. This
revised page is just a better way to list the databases available in your
library and authenticate your access to the subscriptions and will soon
replace the current OPLIN databases page.
