OPLIN staff have developed a new webpage for accessing databases. This new
page includes the databases provided by OPLIN/Libraries Connect Ohio, as
well as those purchased by individual libraries.
The new portal will "go live" tomorrow morning. Any link on your library's
website that points to http://oplin.org/databases will be re-directed to
the new page. If you'd like a preview, you can see the new page now at
http://oplin.org/databases/index.php.
The current "OneSearch" is not going away -- you can still access it from
the new page -- and in fact, any search of the statewide databases from
the new page still returns results from the old OneSearch interface. If
you wish to continue linking to the old OneSearch page from your library's
website, use the following URL:
http://search3.webfeat.org/oplinsearch.html.
You will certainly want to review the list of "locally purchased
databases" that appear when you access the new page from a computer within
your library. This information will most likely be incomplete, since we do
not have any good way of knowing all of the individual databases your
library may have purchased. We can easily add these missing databases if
you send an e-mail to support at oplin.org and include the ~specific~ name of
the database, plus your library's name.
I want to repeat that the database searching (OneSearch) has not changed
-- yet. This revised page is just a better way to list the databases
available in your library, and to authenticate your access to the
subscriptions.
