We use either Intermec or Meterlogic scanners for circ, self check and PCReservation.
Although the public scanner are on stands, most of the time the public takes them off the stand to get a good angle on their card.

Subject: [OPLINTECH] Barcode scanners for the public
I'm looking for a barcode scanner to buy for use with our new CASSIE
system, so that patrons could scan their library cards rather than
typing in the numbers when they sign up to get in the waiting list for a
computer. I've never bought barcode scanners for the public before, but
what I think I want is scanners that can be fixed permanently to aim at
the desk and can be moved or messed with as little as possible.
Can anyone share their experiences with barcode scanners for the public,
including what model you like and how you mounted it? We would probably
want something we can mount to a surface (like a desk).
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Phil
