Unlike the Gates Opportunity Online Grants, if you are applying for
funds to purchase computers there is no attempt here to impose a
statewide formula that determines how many computers a library may
receive. The decision as to whether to buy, or how many computers to
buy, is entirely up to you. If you make a good argument for needing the
computers and the funding, then your chances should be pretty decent.
If you are waiting to see if Connect Ohio's Every Citizen Online program
gets approved for funding, and hoping to get some free computers that
way, all I can say is they (COH) plan to distribute about 12 computers
to each of three community technology centers in each county, and some
of those community technology centers may be in libraries.
